Conversations

“What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversation.” — Glenn Close

Unashamed conversation. How would you define that? Over here at Clarity and Wellness we define unashamed conversations as verbal interactions which have no stigmas or bias towards mental health resulting in productive conversations. No one should have to minimize their concerns in an open conversation for fear of being ashamed.

Sometimes people fill a conversation with so much stigma!

The past two years (Yes I say two since we are in December) have opened the eyes of many to how the slowest, and smallest thing can affect mental health. We have been locked up and partially released to the point that the strong friend is requiring check-ins.

Conversations with the right people are priceless.   – Unknown

Unashamed conversations help to continue changing how people think and act about mental health problems. Talk about it. Talk freely, and unapologetically without fear of what others may say. Talking about your mental health can be awkward, however it is oh so necessary. The awkward conversations can lead to understanding where we are at and where we would like to be with our mental health.

It’s not about pressuring people  into talking about their mental health. It’s about providing one another with an open mind, in order to hear, and understand what is being said. Unashamed conversations teach people how to support you. In order to bypass the stigma of mental health conversations we have to actually have them.

In the most recent years there has been an increase in mental health services. Many people are recognizing that it’s not always easy to just “be okay”. This life we live comes with a crazy amount of twists and turns that seriously ruffle our feathers and at times make it hard to just go on. How many times have you been through some stuff and wonder, dang is there anyone else out there dealing with this? Guess what there is, but how would we know if the stigma of mental health makes everyone too scared to talk?

So Basically we need to drop our fear, bias, and negative views and increase unashamed conversations.
